Volunteer Opportunities at Windfall

There are currently two volunteer positions available at Windfall Centre:

Lead Communications Specialist

Job Purpose

The Lead Communications Specialist is responsible for communications project management and delegation, facilitating the use of organizational standardized messaging, and developing content for organizational print and online communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and delegate projects to the Communications Specialists and the Senior Communications Specialist
  • Shepherd standard messaging from the Senior Communications Specialist to Communications Specialists to ensure consistent message delivery across all mediums (web, email, print, presentations, signage, etc.)
  • Work with functional area leads to develop messaging for events, member engagement, and business development efforts
  • Create content for website, print communications, and ongoing collateral needs that effectively reaches identified target audiences
  • Analysis of communications campaigns
  • Edit external-facing content created across the organization, as needed (i.e. grant applications, technical GHG-related resources, event-specific blurbs, year-end report)
  • Facilitate bimonthly communications team meetings

Key Skills Required

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Marketing and/or Communications experience an asset
  • Post-secondary degree in English or related field an asset
  • Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Salesforce
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Time commitment

Approximately 4 hrs per week, plus weekly team meeting.

IT Specialist

Job Purpose

Do you have a passion for solving IT issues? Are you interested in developing your IT expertise within an innovative sustainability focused group using the latest tools? The IT Specialist will be our go-to for all things IT related! This position will help the rest of the web, communications, and client service team with system design, troubleshooting, coding support, and project support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource for debugging IT & web-related issues
  • Turn ideas into reality by helping develop and integrate leading edge outreach campaigns using our Enterprise platform.
  • Support web team members on larger projects as necessary
  • Coordinate with other team members and functional areas on projects

Skills Required

  • Excellent database management knowledge using and APEX
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong communications skills
  • A passion for linking your IT expertise to improving local sustainability efforts

Time commitment

Approximately 5 hours per week, including bi-weekly team meeting.
