Climate Resilience Lunch Event

Climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Capital markets and financial managers are now paying attention to the risks of climate change and responding accordingly. Organizations will need to prepare for extreme weather and increased costs in order to minimize risk and create a more resilient business model.

On February 9th, ClimateWise is hosting a lunch seminar to look at how leading governments and businesses have adapted to these risks and the benefits realized by early adopters within the community.

Two Feature Presentations

Dr. Blair Feltmate

Head, Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation

Blair Feltmate is the head of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo. The primary purpose of the Intact Centre is to mobilize practical and cost-effective means to help de-risk Canada from the costs associated with extreme weather events.

Previous positions Blair has held include Vice President, Sustainable Development, Bank of Montreal; Director, Sustainable Development, OPG; and Partner, Sustainable Investment Group/YMG Capital Management.

Blair has written scores of papers on climate change, sustainable development and the capital markets. He is generally interviewed by the media about 100 times. per year.

Edmundo Fausto

Project Manager, Ontario Climate Consortium

Edmundo is a Project Manager with the OCC responsible for the Climate Information and Adaptation programs. Edmundo's role is focused on managing the development and implementation of projects that aim to answer critical research questions related to adaptation responses and policy.

The projects in these programs include a variety of partnerships among universities and public and private sector organizations that come together to advance climate research in Ontario.

Brent Kopperson (Executive Director) of Windfall Ecology Centre will moderate the panel discussion.
