York region Sustainability Awards

2019

The third annual York Region Sustainability Awards were held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the KPMG building in Vaughan Ontario. Over 100 business and community leaders gathered to network and recognize the climate action successes of York Region business over the past year — including the collective ClimateWise member commitment of reducing 5500 tonnes of CO2e emissions.

The keynote was delivered by Toby Heaps, CEO and co-founder of Corporate Knights. Heaps delivered a presentation on how optimism can overcome our current reality of climate inaction.

In attendance was Mary Ng, federal minister of Small Business and Export Promotion. Minister Ng's presence at the event further emphasized the importance of small businesses taking leadership on climate change mitigation.
