REpower Ontario
A Comprehensive Green Training Program
REpower Ontario is a community based market transformation program that orients, educates and connects eager participants with environmentally-focused training and interdisciplinary skills centred around the new green economy.
The REpower Program is adapted from a core skills learning curriculum developed over a several year period by staff at Windfall Ecology Centre based around past Green Employment Programming.
The two-week program utilizes in-class training, distance learning, and work placements to match needs at the local level and provide access to these opportunities to Youth, First Nations, Women, New Canadians and those looking for retraining.

Program Content
REpower integrates and covers all the basics of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water conservation into an applied program, prepares the participants for job readiness and career development in the green economy, and facilitates the placement of the successful participants in a range of possible alternatives: advanced training, co-op, apprenticeships, self employment or employment.
Program Goals
1. To provide potential green workers with a one-stop introduction to the green economy that will allow them to determine if this is an area they wish to train in or re-train in, and if so, in what area they wish to specialize;
2. To provide workforce development of potential staff for employers who are looking to develop the green marketplace; and
3. To design and deliver the training and development in such a way as to embed the emerging green philosophy and mindset that will lead to transformation, innovation and systematic change in our Ontario economy.
Program Delivery
Two Week Program
Delivered in a classroom, with field trips and practical hands on skill training by experts working in the various green zones (energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation). This program will also include the green economy fundamentals, job readiness, and career counseling. This program will be offered 10 times per year.
Online Program
A modularized program will be offered on-line that provides the theory and basic practices covered in the classroom version, along with the green economy fundamentals. This program expands access to the learning to those who otherwise would not be able to attend the physical location.
Referral Program
Upon completion of the Two Week Program or Online Program, participants receive a referral through Windfall as the 'community connector' for placements such as: advanced training, co-op, apprenticeships, self-employment or employment. This referral service will be provided to both the graduates of the classroom and on-line programs.
Alumni Program
Upon completion of the Two Week Program or Online Program, the Alumni Program will be accessible to provide a forum to continually update skills and to collaboratively problem solve issues that need to be addressed to enhance professional and personal development.
