Becoming a member
Pukwis is called a 'Community Wind Park' because it will be owned by members of the local community, both on Georgina Island and throughout the GTA.
Ontario residents (age 16 and over) can become members of the Pukwis Energy Co-op. Memberships will be purchased for $25 when you make your initial investment in the project. The minimum investment amount has been set at $1000 to ensure that a wide range of Ontarians are able to participate in this exciting opportunity.
The co-operative will be governed by a one member, one vote system which will ensure the internal democracy of the co-operative, providing equal voice for all members regardless of the size of their investment. This model has been successfully employed by community wind co-operatives in countries such as Denmark and Germany.
