Green Economy 101 is a comprehensive introduction to the Green Economy. The program examines the fundamentals of this emerging marketplace and matches participants skills and passions to new opportunities in the Green Economy, while providing a practical road map to a new green career. Prospective Participants must be:

  • 16 years and older
  • Able to provide their own transportation to and from in-class session locations
  • In-class sessions are accessible by public transit.

Requirements

  • There are no academic requirements, however participants must have competency in spoken and written English.

  • Payment must be made by the beginning of your first session and costs are subject to change

In-class Program

Delivered in a classroom setting, with a field trip, practical hands on training and self evaluation exercises, REpower Ontario utilizes the expertise of those working in energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation to guide participants into a viable green career.

The dynamic of the in-class sessions allows for a one on one approach to career counselling and an enhanced learning experience through the enriching backgrounds and experiences of fellow participants.

On-line Program

A modularized program offered on-line that provides the theory and basic practices covered in the classroom version.

Join us and experience our live virtual classroom environment with robust features including real time audio, multi-point video, instant chat / messaging, interactive whiteboard, breakout rooms for group discussions / coursework, and an archiving feature that allows for review of session recording content. Facilitators and participants can engage as if they are meeting face-to-face, with as good as, or even better, outcomes!

The on-line program is securely hosted by WIMBA Classroom, a 21st century web conferencing platform. This facilitated and interactive program expands access to the learning to those who otherwise would not be able to attend the in-class program.

This program is delivered in two bi-weekly sessions with independent, and group homework assignments.

REpower Ontario's Green Economy 101 will provide an integrated overview of the workforce requirements and opportunities in the Green Economy. The curriculum blends together the basic requirements for all of the major facets in the Green Economy so that participants can get a real taste of what this work involves and where their interests may lie for specialization.
