Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions rose by 1.8 per cent

The annual inventory of Canada's emissions for 2021, published Friday, April 14, 2023, showed emissions from all sources that year added up to 670 million tonnes. That's up from 659 million tonnes in 2020.

Environment and Climate Change Canada submitted Canada's Eighth National Communication and Fifth Biennial Report on December 31, 2022 in accordance with United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) requirements. The report shows the real progress that Canada is making in recent years, fighting climate change while also building a strong economy.

Durham Region launches Net Zero Renovations project

Durham Region and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) have partnered to launch the Towards Net Zero Renovations Project. Renovators, trades and other key retrofit stakeholders get access to industry leading building science training and both the CHBA Net Zero Builder and Renovator Training courses at no cost, valued at approximately $2,500.

On September 24 at Sheppard's Bush in Aurora, in celebration of Canada's and Ontario's 150th birthday, Windfall Ecology Centre hosted the Windfall Harvest Festival... A Celebration of Diversity: Food, Land and People. The festival featured First Nations dance and drumming, pioneer life reenactments, celebrity chefs, food sampling, nature walks, kids Nature Play and many more family activities.

Windfall Ecology Centre is located on the traditional territories of the Wendat, Haudeno-saunee, and the Anishinaabe peoples and the treaty land of the Williams Treaties First Nations and other Indigenous peoples whose presence here continues to this day.
