Volunteer at Windfall Centre

There are currently three volunteer positions available at Windfall Centre:

Social Media Coordinator

Job Purpose

We are looking for a creative and dedicated social media volunteer to help us update, monitor, and manage our social media channels. Working in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager, the volunteer in this position will assist in content creation and the development of online engagement strategies.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get experience in social media, writing and marketing in the environmental field. This is a volunteer position that could potentially lead into other roles within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in content creation for social media platforms;
  • Engage with followers and community;
  • Review analytics and optimize for future posting
  • Create a social media posting timeline and post accordingly.

Key Skills Required

  • Excellent organizational, communication and multitasking skills;
  • Experience utilizing Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn;
  • English proficiency'
  • Able to work independently and find solutions;
  • Desire to learn new things and adapt quickly;
  • Interested in environmental or sustainability issues.

Time Commitment

Minimum 5 hours per week, plus weekly team meeting.

Business Development Researcher

Job Purpose

The Business Development Researcher will be responsible for conducting research to support the ClimateWise Business Network team, with a focus on industry-specific campaigns, preparing market research, developing case studies and providing up-to-date business case data.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting, synthesizing and compiling research to support industry campaigns (for example, industry-specific business case data, company profiles & contact information);
  • Supporting decision making, coordination & outreach involved in all industry campaigns;
  • Supporting other ad-hoc market research for the business development team, such as research on cold leads.

Key Skills Required

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Education in sustainability, environmental studies or business or marketing is an advantage;
  • Experience in a research-focused role;
  • Self-motivated, driven and organized;
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented and dependable;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Interested in environmental or sustainability issues.

Time Commitment

Minimum 5 hours per week, plus weekly team meeting, and biweekly business development strategy meeting.

IT Specialist

Job Purpose

Do you have a passion for solving IT issues? Are you interested in developing your IT expertise within an innovative sustainability focused group using the latest tools? The IT Specialist will be our go-to for all things IT related! This position will help the rest of the web, communications, and client service team with system design, troubleshooting, coding support, and project support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource for debugging IT & web-related issues
  • Turn ideas into reality by helping develop and integrate leading edge outreach campaigns using our Salesfore.com Enterprise platform.
  • Support web team members on larger projects as necessary
  • Coordinate with other team members and functional areas on projects

Skills Required

  • Excellent database management knowledge using Salesforce.com and APEX
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong communications skills
  • A passion for linking your IT expertise to improving local sustainability efforts

Time commitment

Approximately 5 hours per week, including bi-weekly team meeting.
